PFCs & Universal Beams
Long beams for a view-side opening, bearers under a deck that steps down the slope, and beams to carry a new upper storey. All cut at Eagle Farm, then delivered up Clayfield's hillier streets.

For Steel Beams Clayfield, talk to Ace Posts and Beams. Clayfield climbs away from Sandgate Road, and many of its houses are high-set with the land falling away underneath. Steel on a slope is rarely one length and one height. We cut posts to individual heights and beams to the span each bay needs, pre-drilled so they go straight in.
On a level block, ten posts are ten of the same. On a Clayfield slope, they can be ten different lengths. Give us the engineer's post schedule with a mark for each position and we'll cut and label to it, so the longest post meant for the low corner never ends up on the high side.
Decks, carports and cantilevered rooms are the other regular job. A cantilever depends on its back-span and connection detail, and both are the engineer's call. Our part is cutting the beam to that detail and drilling the plates accurately so it sits as designed.
Slope adds costs you can't see until the excavator and the surveyor have been. A free, no-obligation quote from the drawings lets you fix the steel cost early, while other numbers on a hillside site are still moving.

You can choose raw, primed or hot-dipped galvanised steel, all pre-drilled. Posts and bearers stand in the open on a slope, so galvanised is the usual choice. Steel inside the building envelope can be primed.
Three days from order is typical. Footings on a slope run to their own timetable, so send us the date they'll be ready and we'll aim for steel that matches it.
Each post is cut to its own height and marked for its position. On uneven ground, that removes the slowest part of the job: measuring and trimming on site.
We can explain which finish suits an exposed hillside position and how to write a post schedule so nothing is mistaken. Loads and sizing belong to your engineer.
Trade pricing for a carport's worth of steel or for every post, bearer and beam in a hillside rebuild, quoted together.
For high-set houses, decks, carports and hillside extensions, our stock lines and options span:
A Clayfield order commonly includes a run of galvanised posts in several lengths, bearers to sit across them, and one or two long beams for the main opening. Hole drilling, plates and bracing can go on the same order, and where a design needs a part that isn't standard, we can fabricate it.
Mostly steel for sloping-block work: posts in graduated lengths, bearers and beams for high-set houses, and steel for decks, carports and cantilevered additions. Some Clayfield orders are for a new level over an existing house.
Yes. Send a post schedule with each position marked and its height, and we'll cut and label to match. Long beams and cantilever members are cut to the length on the engineer's drawing.
Parallel flange channels and universal beams, plus steel and rolled hollow section columns for posts. Anything outside our stock sizes is made to measure.
The options are raw, prime painted, hot-dipped galvanised and pre-drilling. On a slope, posts and bearers take wind-driven rain and ground splash, so galvanising gives the longest-lasting result. A primed beam suits somewhere it will be lined in. Your engineer confirms which applies.
Typically three days, with galvanising adding time. Tell us when your builder can use the steel and we'll time the supply to match rather than deliver early and leave it on the ground.
Both. Steeper streets and narrow driveways can limit truck size, so tell us about gradients, overhanging trees and where the steel can be set down. Pickup from Eagle Farm is always an option.
Clayfield is a short trip from our Eagle Farm branch. Builders often combine a Clayfield drop with jobs in the neighbouring suburbs, and we're happy to quote them together. Suburbs we regularly supply include:
Clayfield rises from the Sandgate Road corridor into some of the inner north's hillier streets, with Queenslanders and post-war houses side by side. The Clayfield railway station on the Sandgate line and Clayfield College are two of its best-known landmarks. Many homes were built high on the block to catch breezes and views, so high-set floors with land falling away beneath are common, and that is exactly where owners start asking about steel.
Send the post schedule, beam sizes and finish, with the street address and anything unusual about access. We'll quote the steel and confirm delivery timing. Request your free Steel Beams Clayfield quote today.
