About Teneriffe
Teneriffe takes its name from Teneriffe House, an early riverside residence. For much of the 20th century the riverbank here was lined with wool stores, where wool from Queensland stations was held before shipping. When the trade moved on, many of the big brick-and-timber stores were converted to apartments, and Teneriffe became one of Brisbane's best-known examples of warehouse living.
